Dr. McLaine has been a certified athletic trainer for over 35 years. She became involved in athletic training as a junior in high school and has maintained a passion for the field ever since. She was the Head Athletic Trainer for Women’s Sports at Iowa State University for 10 years. During that time she worked with Division I college athletes and Olympians. While at Iowa State, she also taught athletic training courses.
After completing her Ph.D., Dr. McLaine became the Program Director at an accredited Athletic Training Program in California. She came to Winthrop University in 2002 where she developed and obtained initial accreditation for the Athletic Training Program. She is very involved in athletic training at the local, regional, and national level. She serves as a member of several professional committees related to athletic training continuing education and peer support.
Dr. McLaine believes that professional preparation of athletic trainers is critical to the on-going health and safety of athletes and physically active individuals in all settings. She loves teaching and would rather be working with students than doing any other work activities.
Dr. McLaine and her husband have three grown children.
