The Richard W. Riley College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences's Student Academic Services (SAS) primarily serves undergraduate and Master of Arts in Teaching students enrolled in majors and minors within the college. In addition to these primary stakeholders, the office supports faculty advising in the college and completers of all educator preparation programs in obtaining certification. The SAS staff is focused on providing assistance and helpful resources in the areas of advising, student success, recruitment, retention, certification, admission to the Teacher Education Program, and college-specific scholarships. Our mission aligns with the College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences’s vision of preparing graduates to becomes innovative, intentional, and inclusive leaders who invest in their communities, and our work is guided by the Winthrop University values of leadership, service, community, and excellence.
Student Academic Services is the academic hub for all students in the Richard W. Riley College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences.
Ms. Carol Adams, Administrative Specialist, is your first contact for questions. Ms. Adams can help you determine who best can answer your questions. Further, Ms. Adams is also our Student Learning & Licensure support assistant and Librarian for our Praxis Study Guides. If you need more information checking out a study guide or need assistance logging into Student Learning & Licensure, please contact Ms. Adams. Her office is located in Withers 106-D.
Ms. Elizabeth Moore, Academic Advisor to Richard W. Riley College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences.
Ms. Joanna Harris, Director of Student Academic Services and Educator Services Coordinator, is the first point of contact for admission to the Teacher Education Program, teacher certification, and college-level scholarships. Ms. Harris is the secondary advisor for Educational Studies Minors.
Dr. Erin Hamel, Associate Dean, provides support for all processes in the office.

In fall and spring terms, the office is open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
In the summer, the office is open Monday to Thursday 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Friday 8-11:30 a.m.
