The purpose of the Eagle STEM Scholars Program is to educate and support undergraduate biology, chemistry, mathematics, data science, environmental science, computer science, and cybersecurity students for matriculation into STEM Master's, Ph.D. programs, and professional careers. The program was formed as a result of the INBRE II initiative. The program supports academically talented Winthrop students in the STEM fields and is taking steps to move over the next two decades towards national leadership in this area.
Eagle STEM Scholars will become a part of a close-knit campus community of like-minded learners. They will share common campus experiences that foster unity and academic achievement.
The Winthrop Eagle STEM Scholars Program is seeking motivated, goal-oriented, high-caliber students who demonstrate excellent proficiency in science and mathematics. This student-centered program provides individual and peer support, resources for academic success, and an unmatched level of access to scientific research.
Students graduating as Eagle STEM scholars will transition successfully into graduate programs, professional careers, or health-related research careers. Recipients of the Eagle STEM scholarship will pursue any of the follow areas of study:
