Retirement is a major change in your life. The Emeriti College at Winthrop University wants to help you make that transition between academic life and your independence as a retiree. We know you want to maintain contact with your fellow colleagues, keep up with changes at the institution, find places that you might volunteer in the campus or your community, and continue to learn. Emeriti College seeks to provide you a recognized pathway to change and growth.
Established in 2022 after over a decade of planning and input from emeriti faculty, retirees and present faculty, Emeriti College aims to enhance the relationship between Winthrop University and its emeriti faculty. We believe it is our responsibility to support the teaching, research and outreach missions of the university while working to enhance the greater welfare of emeriti faculty, students, and the community at large.
Emeriti College is an independent campus organization under the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The College is a membership and is dependent on its membership to manage the organization, develop and run special programming, keep the organization financially viable, and provide volunteer expertise and leadership to campus and community organizations. The organization is connected to similar organizations throughout the county through the Association of Retirement Organizations (AROHE). As a member you, too, will receive information about retirement organizations across the country.
