Degree or Certificate Application Procedure

First, review application deadlines, admission policies, and program requirements (click your program of interest for details).

Then, submit:

1. An online application with a non-refundable $50 application fee. (Visit our online admissions page to apply for a 100% online program).

2. Official transcript(s) from all institutions attended, even if the classes were transferred or if the applicant withdrew from the school. Transcripts must be sent from the issuing institutions to: gradstudies@winthrop.edu or Winthrop University Graduate Studies, 211 Tillman Hall, Rock Hill, SC 29733.

Please note: Winthrop University verifies college and university attendance through the National Student Clearinghouse. If you attended an institution and do not list it on your application, you will be asked to have an official transcript sent to Winthrop from that institution. Degrees or coursework completed at an institution that does not hold accreditation from the commission on colleges of a regional accreditation agency will be evaluated on an individual basis.

3. Additional program-specific requirements, such as letters of recommendation, resume, essay, standardized test scores*, specific work experience, an audition or interview, etc. Review your program page for requirements.

*If a standardized test is required, the official test scores must be sent directly to Graduate Studies from the testing agency. Our school code is 5910. Standardized test scores are valid for 5 years from the test date. Winthrop University will not consider test results older than 5 years for entrance into a graduate program.

Admission Requirements

Applicants should have demonstrated adequate academic preparation in their proposed area of study. Those with deficiencies in academic preparation may be required to take additional work to strengthen their backgrounds. Each application to a degree or certificate program must have the approval of the college in which the student's area of specialization is located, with final approval by Graduate Studies.

The Graduate Studies office will notify applicants of the admissions decision.
