Peer Academic Coaching

What is Peer Academic Coaching?

Peer academic coaching is a required program for all freshmen probation students. In this program, students will meet weekly with a peer coach in a one-on-one setting throughout the semester. In these sessions, students cover academic skills such as time management, study strategies and motivation techniques.

When is it offered?

In a formal setting, peer academic coaching is only offered in the spring semester. This program is required for all first-time freshman probation students. Probation students required to participate in the program will receive a notification email in mid-late December.

Can I be a part of the program if I am not a freshman probation student?

Unfortunately, this program is only offered to freshman probation students. However, based on availability, we do offer peer coaching for all students in both the fall and spring semester. These sessions would be led by our graduate assistants and interns. If you are interested, please contact the ASC at success@winthrop.edu.
