Facilities and Equipment

Instruments

The Department of Chemistry, Physics, Geology and the Environment is housed in the Sims Science Building. The 60,000 sq. ft. facility includes teaching and undergraduate research laboratories, classrooms, student study and administrative spaces that are fully modernized. Classrooms and conference rooms are equipped with smart technology, including video conferencing.

Undergraduate research laboratory facilities in Sims include five biochemistry labs, three large organic and inorganic synthesis labs, two physical chemistry labs, two physics research labs, two geology research labs, bio-analytical and instrumentation labs, laser lab, cold room, cell culture, and computational chemistry lab space.

Teaching laboratory facilities include labs dedicated for analytical chemistry, biochemistry, general chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, phyical chemistry, physics, and geology. Sims also houses three computer labs available for routine student access.
