TIPS Scholars Program

The TIPS Scholars Program (Transdisciplinary Approach to Identity, Persistence, and Success in STEM) addresses the national need for well-educated scientists, mathematicians, engineers, and technicians by supporting the retention and graduation of high-achieving, low-income students with demonstrated financial need. The program offers scholarships to qualified students. TIPS Scholars receive scholarships of up to $15,000 per year and can total up to $60,000 over 4 years.

Eligibility:

  • Must be eligible for the Federal Pell grant (determined by FAFSA)
  • Must declare a major in Chemistry (Biochemistry, Forensics, Pre-Engineering, Health & Chemical Sciences, or any other track), Computer Science, or Mathematics

This project is funded by the National Science Foundation’s Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics program, which seeks to increase the number of low-income academically talented students with demonstrated financial need who earn degrees in STEM fields. It also aims to improve the education of future STEM workers, and to generate knowledge about academic success, retention, transfer, graduation, and academic/career pathways of low-income students.
