You are a listener. You dream of leading choirs, conducting orchestras, teaching students, or composing your own works. Learn music theory, aural skills, arranging, music technology and more. A like-minded group of faculty, students, and staff with a shared passion for all aspects of music, Winthrop’s Department of Music provides supportive mentoring to foster your development as a musician and to prepare you for a career in music. Winthrop offers four undergraduate and three graduate music degree programs, including a Bachelor of Arts degree in music with a concentration in music technology. Courses cover fundamentals of music technology, audio recording/post-production, synthesis/signal processing, and audio for visual media.

It is the mission of the Department of Music at Winthrop University to offer nationally accredited music programs that provide students with opportunities to explore their intellectual and creative potentials through liberal arts, music education, and music performance degrees to prepare them for a life of professional, academic, and community service.

Planning to visit campus?

For the safety of our community, all motor vehicles parked on the campus or any property owned by Winthrop University, must be registered with the Winthrop University Police Department and be issued either a Regular parking permit, a Temporary parking permit, or a Visitor’s parking permit. Temporary or Visitor parking permits can be obtained online either before or upon arriving on campus.
