Are you interested in becoming a Certified Dietary Manager, a community nutrition
educator, a health and wellness coach, or another nutrition-focused career?
Our Nutrition and Health Promotion program will provide you with the varied experiences
you need to market yourself in a competitive job market. We understand the variety
of careers that are available, and we work hard to ensure that you are prepared to
step into a career that you love.
Important skills that our students get experience with include:
Nutrition Assessment
Prepare to move into the field with hands-on nutrition focused physical assessment.
Our faculty have extensive experience in clinical settings, ensuring you receive training
on the most evidence-based techniques.
Program Planning
Developing effective nutrition interventions is one of the most employable skills
a dietitian can have. Our students develop and implement their own 5-week nutrition
intervention program supervised by a faculty member.
Quantity Food Production & Menu Planning
One area that nutrition professionals gain employment in is food service! Understanding
how to plan and cook meals for 50 or more is a huge challenge. In our department,
students practice on campus by hosting faculty for themed meals.
Nutrition Counseling
One-on-one counseling is likely what you think about when you picture a career as
a dietitian. With us, you will develop your book knowledge and then experience managing
your own client through three weeks of supervised counseling.
There are so many nutrition-focused careers (PDF - 180KB), and we know that the list is quickly growing. Our department wants to support you
to work towards a career that is dynamic and exciting.
Depending on the courses you choose to take in our program, you can become eligible
to become a Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Health Education Specialist, or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist! Additionally, graduates will earn a ServSafe Manager certification. We work hard to ensure that you are prepared to step into a career that you love.
