All fraternities and sororities that are recognized by the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life as outlined in our Recognition Guidelines must be a registered student organization with the Department of Student Engagement. Each chapter and governing council must renew their registration annual and complete the necessary requirements.
To change chapter member's status, please complete the Chapter Roster Update Form. All members to be removed from the roster must be submitted to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life via the Chapter Roster Update Form no later than November 15th for fall semester and April 15th for spring semester.
Below are brief descriptions for each Chapter Status Code:
Aspirant/New Member - All aspirants/new members are automatically added to the chapter when the Verification of Aspirants/New Members Form is turned into the Department of Student Engagement - Fraternity & Sorority Life (DIGS 269) the next business day following the official start of new member education. Any withdrawals of aspirants/new members prior to initiation must be communicated to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life by e-mail with the person's name, e-mail, and reason for withdrawal
Active - Chapter member is initiated, paying dues, and is a full participating member of the organization.
Inactive - Chapter member is temporarily not a member of the chapter (e.g., leaving school for a semester, co-oping/interning, financial delinquency/emergency status, or studying abroad) and is planning to return to the chapter as an active undergraduate member. This is not to be used for academic probation or internal sanctions.
Reactive - Chapter member is returning from inactive status and should be considered an active member.
Graduated - Chapter member has fully matriculated through the University and has been awarded their undergraduate degree.
End - Chapter member is no longer recognized as a member of the fraternity/sorority prior to graduation, no longer carries the privileges of membership, and will not be returning to active undergraduate membership, and is not paying dues. (Please indicate if they are no longer a student at the university, transferred and to which institution, or granted alum/fifth year status per your inter/national policies.)
Delete - This person was never initiated into the organization and should have never been considered a member.
