Meet the Firms is a job fair for accounting, finance, economics, and computer information students and recent graduates. This is a time for students to learn about different career paths and internship opportunities with various organizations. Participants include CPA firms, wealth management firms, banks, government agencies, and relevant corporate departments (e.g., internal audit, accounting, tax, and finance).
Meet the Firms is hosted by the College of Business & Technology’s Beta Alpha Psi, an international honors society for accounting, finance, and information systems students, and supported by the Center for Career Development & Internships.
Registration for Meet the Firms 2025 will open during Summer 2025! Most employers attending Meet the Firms post application links on Handshake, and registration will occur via Handshake. Thus, ensure you can log into Handshake and your profile is up-to-date. Alumni, follow these instructions to access Handshake. Contact szemanm@winthrop.edu if you encounter any Handshake issues.
Below are some guidelines to help you prepare for Meet the Firms, applying, and interviewing. Need help with your resume or interview practice? You can schedule an appointment with Winthrop's Center for Career Development & Internships to get one-on-one help. Need an outfit for interviews? The CBT has a professional clothes closet that you can use to create an appropriate outfit. Please visit Student Services (open 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.) at Thurmond 226 to use this resource.
If your organization is interested in participating for the first time, please complete
our Interest Form. You will be notified via e-mail when the firm registration opens in Summer 2025.
Location and Time
We will be in McBryde Hall on Winthrop’s campus. You can start setting up your booth
at 10 a.m., and refreshments will be available during the setup time. Students will
begin arriving at 10:30 a.m. Following Meet the Firms, your firm representatives may
join faculty and Beta Alpha Psi students for a luncheon from 12:30–1:30 p.m. in Tuttle
Hall, an adjoining room of McBryde Hall.
Booths
Each registration includes one booth: a six-foot table with a garnet tablecloth. Firms
may pick their booth location on a first-come basis. Please bring firm signage for
your booth. If you wish to bring firm swag, plan for 150 students. Registration is
limited to 40 booths. Registration fees are non-refundable after August 24, 2025.
Parking
On the Winthrop parking map, McBryde Hall is building 15. Please park in lot G (Margaret Nance) or the green
visitor parking spaces between buildings 14 and 15. You can use lot E (Johnson) if
these lots fill up. Parking passes are not needed for these designated areas.
Visitor spaces can be used if you will be on campus after 2 pm or the Johnson parking
lot is full. However, you must submit a visitor parking permit request. Visitor spaces are marked green in person and on the map.
Job Postings and Interviews
We recommend that firms post job openings to Handshake. You can set up an Employer
Handshake account here. If you want to arrange on-campus interviews, please contact Michael Szeman (CDI
Associate Director) at szemanm@winthrop.edu.
