Reviewing employee classifications, compensation and pay practices is an ongoing process and one of the university's top priorities. The official process began in 2020, when Winthrop partnered with Segal Consulting, a nationally recognized human resources consulting firm specializing in higher education compensation and pay practices. The partnership resulted in new Pay Administration Guidelines and a five-year class and pay project aimed at providing competitive salaries based on current market data. Although the project, which began in 2021, will conclude in 2025, the university recognizes the importance of salary in attracting and retaining highly qualified employees and will be reviewing options to continue some form of the program into the future. More details will be provided as future plans are confirmed.
