In order to improve efficiency and accuracy regarding the submission and approval of leave reports for exempt Winthrop employees, effective July 1, 2017 the Office of Human Resources will be implementing the following updated deadlines regarding the submission of leave reports.
Currently, employees must submit their leave reports within 15 days of the last day of the pay period. The extra time has resulted in many employees missing the deadline and/or supplying inaccurate information. Going forward, the deadline for submitting leave reports by exempt, leave-eligible employees will be reduced to three days after the end of the pay period (unless the 3rd day falls on a weekend, in which case the deadline would be the next business day). This is more consistent with the deadlines for time sheet submission. As with time sheets, the approval deadline would be one day after the submission deadline (unless it falls on a weekend, in which case it would be the next business day). In addition, we are asking that all exempt, leave-eligible employees submit a leave report for each pay period REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THEY HAVE TAKEN LEAVE during that period. Even if no leave is used during a pay period, the leave report still needs to be submitted. This process will ensure that employees do not forget to report leave.
We recognize that it may take some time to conform to a new submission deadline, so don't worry — we will notify you via e-mail if your leave report has not been submitted according to the new deadlines.
